Download extension

This is a developer preview installed manually. It is not yet listed in the Chrome Web Store. The same package works in Brave and Chrome on a computer; this download is not an iPhone extension.

Install once.

  1. Download and extract the ZIP into a folder you will keep on your computer.
  2. Open brave://extensions in Brave or chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  3. Enable Developer mode, select Load unpacked, and choose the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Open the Lectino extension and choose Connect. Sign in on lectino.com and confirm the connection you just started.
  5. Return to an article in your browser. Open the extension and select Learning Mode.

Read where you already browse.

The extension works with the text visible on the page you open. It cannot unlock subscriptions or recover missing article text. A publisher's consent screen or unsupported layout may need to be resolved before reading. Close Learning Mode to return to the original page.

Only the selected word, a short surrounding passage and source information are sent to Lectino for translation and saving. Full article text stays in this browser session. Saved words are collected in your account and appear in My words when Lectino opens or refreshes. Open Lectino within 30 days to sync pending extension words into your permanent journal. Free translation limits apply.

Prefer an article link?

Paste a link into the search field in Lectino and choose Import article. Supported, licensed articles from the last seven days are added after every word meaning has been prepared. Other publishers show a clear explanation instead of an incomplete copy.
